Master in Exploration Geophysics

The objective of our International Master course is to train top-level exploration geophysicists, who will go on to carry out research either in academia (Ph.D.) or in industry. Every year we recruit around students from all over the world. The courses are taught by internationally renowned scientists who are actively engaged in research from IPGP, Mines ParisTech, TOTAL, Shell, CGG and Schlumberger.

Most of the courses require strong background in mathematics, physics and numerical literacy. The life in GPX master is very dense. We start the courses from September and end by the end of December followed by exams till mid January. The research internship starts from mid January to mid June and the students are to defend at the end of June.

The research internships will take place either in academia or in industry. It might take place abroad. We collect students' preferences and supervisors' preferences in order to maximise the satisfactions from both sides.

In French system GPX curriculum is M2R (Master en Recherche), which is equivalent to the second year of Master in most of European countries. The candidates thus should have a diploma equivalent to M1 in France, or bachelor degree from the 4-year universities (like those of the US or Japan for example).
