Seismic interferometry
Over a decade, seismic interferometry (SI) has revealed its potential to extract ‘arbitrary’ Green’s functions between any two points. Taking benefit of representation theorems, SI seeks an accurate and efficient way to reconstruct Green’s functions by convolution or cross-correlation of two wavefields. The GPX group has championed the SI of passive data (noise) to estimate near surface S-wave velocity anisotropy and has applied to real data, such as Valhall LoF data. We have developed a set of algorithms starting from data extraction to 3D tomography and propose to develop 3D FWI and time-lapse S-wave imaging. SI team in GPX is now working on both active and passive source interferometry, from theoretical study to application to real data.
